Photography is a journey for both the viewer and the photographer. The images invite us to experience the feelings photographs evoke in each of us. My hope as a photographer is to offer feelings of hope, potentiality and peace through the photos I share with others. My goal as a spiritual companion in photography is offer tools to individuals experience photography as a spiritual practice and avenues to use photography as a means to explore the internal life. My story....
My process: Meditation is a large piece of the process for me. Photography feeds my soul from the starting place of centering before I leave the house, to receiving the image and onto looking at them on my computer screen at the end of the day. My hope is to share with you, the viewer, what I saw when I was out with my camera and to evoke the sense of quietness I believe photography can bring into our lives. With this in mind, I do very little to change the image from what I experienced in the field. The images you see on these pages, and eventually on your walls are what I encountered when I went out with my camera.
Language: The words we use to describe photography also carry emotions. I try to use peaceful words like receive and record rather than harsh words like capture, take, shoot or shot. When we push the shutter button to record an image we are actually receiving light into the camera thus "making" an image rather than taking it. I hope you too, will think about the language you use to describe photography.
